Ladies and Girls Rugby returning to London Irish Amateur Rugby FC

london irish 2The London Irish Amateur Rugby Football Club are delighted to announce that they are re-launching their girls’ rugby section for age groups U15, U18 and Adult.

“We will ensure that the girls get the best opportunity to develop both as individuals and team players, and above all have fun playing the game.”

They have already had considerable interest shown within the local community, the greater Surrey area and even from abroad. Are you interested in joining the Club or do you know of some women that could benefit from this?
Let them know! The club welcomes players of all abilities.

Their vision is:

  • To identify, recruit ad develop, from all sources.
  • To adopt a comprehensive recruitment policy in the Sunbury area as well as Berkshire, Hampshire and abroad.
  • To provide top class coaching by qualified staff to give each ever player the best opportunity to succeed.
  • To provide the most appropriate individual player development, mentoring and support programs.
  • To provide the best possible facilities for our players to succeed.
  • To build good working relationships with schools, Clubs, Colleges and Universities.
  • To teach responsibility, discipline and respect for themselves and the game.
  • To set high standards for integrity, honesty and performance.

The girls’ teams will be based at the Professional and Amateur club training and playing facilities at the new grounds in Hazelwood.

Everybody wants a fantastic environment to train. The Club’s Director of Rugby, Brian Smith, said,

“We will have a shiny new training base with some of the best facilities in the country.”

He also agreed that this should help with the recruitment process, “You need to have the best facilities to retain and entice the best players in the game. When Hazelwood is finished we will certainly have that!”

Once the ground is completed it will boast five full size pitches, one of which will be 3G, and 12 junior sized pitches – all ready to house both the London Irish Professional and Amateur clubs, members of the Amateur club’s junior section and the London Irish EPDG and Academy programmes.

Both professional and amateur players associated with London Irish will get the chance to play on top of the range pitches.

The women’s training sessions will be held every Wednesday at 7.00pm and Sunday mornings at 10.00am. Matches will be played on Sunday afternoons at 1.00pm.
