Become a Part-Time London Wasps Community Rugby Coach

Join our Team as a part-time coach working on the delivery of our Community Programmes

Have you ever wanted to pursue a career in rugby coaching?
Do you have a passion for Rugby and Rugby Development?
Are you a good rugby coach that wants to get involved with a Premiership Rugby Club?

If the answer to the above is "yes", then the London Wasps Community Team wants you to join them.

As a leading light in Rugby Development, the London Wasps Community Programme is expanding to new areas, and we are looking for new coaches to assist us in our delivery. We will be interested in your coaching services if you have all of the following;

RFU Level II coaching qualification or equivalent, or School PE Teachers that hold a RFU Level I coaching qualification
RFU-issued Enhanced CRB Disclosure
Knowledge of the RFU Continuum and capable of working with young people from Under 6s to Under 17s
Experience and proficiency at creating a positive and rewarding player-centred learning environment for young people to be be fully engaged and involved
Experience and proficiency towards ensuring young people gain a positive experience, achievement and raised levels of self-esteem
Experience and proficiency in creating relevant practices and games that are both progressive and challenging to develop core rugby skills, game understanding and decision-making
Experience and proficiency in providing feedback to encourage young people to reflect, understand their development pathways and fulfil their potential
High level of proven communication skills
Professional appearance
Knowledge of Long Term Player Development (LTPD) / Agility, Balance, Co-ordination & Speed

We would also prefer it if you had all of the below;

Driving licence and own vehicle
RFU Referee qualification
First Aid qualification

I initially got involved with the London Wasps Community Team as a volunteer, and as my experience and knowledge of coaching grew I started to move up the pay scale within the Community Team. I am now employed full-time by London Wasps and cannot speak highly enough of the Continual Professional Development that was afforded to me when I was a part-time employee - Ben Smiley (Community Rugby Coach, London Wasps)

We currently employ 150+ part-time coaches with backgrounds such as teachers, policemen, military personnel and former rugby professionals. We welcome employees of businesses who allow you to work in the community as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility. We offer competitive rates of pay linked to the qualifications held, items of London Wasps clothing and match tickets linked to the projects the coaches are employed to deliver.

As our Community Coaching involves working with children and young people, the post holders will be required to undergo an advanced Criminal Records Bureau check through the Rugby Football Union and complete a Self Declaration Form. Possession of a valid driving licence and access to a suitable vehicle for use is required, as the posts will involve travelling. All posts may involve working unsociable hours.
