As we move into the New Year, rugby 7s enthusiasts around the world are beginning to allow themselves to look forward to the 7s season and our own FRN7s players are beginning to feel the buzz.
An event that best marks the beginning of this season is the world-famous Bournemouth 7s Festival , which will be taking place over the end of May Bank Holiday weekend between 23rd – 25th May 2014.
This year’s Bournemouth 7s Festival looks likely to be the biggest and best event to date with the quality of the National Cup line up reflecting its ever-growing reputation.
The 2013 National Cup Winners, Templar 7s, will top the bill having won the title with a scintillating performance in last year’s final against Army Rugby Union, which ended its three-year run. The Army will be back this year in an attempt to win back their title.
Other notable teams in the line-up are no strangers to the elite 7s circuit. These teams include Apache 7s, Carmarthen Warriors & The Saxons who all return after strong performances in 2013.
In addition, Bournemouth 7s regulars Bryanston Old Boys, Esher RFC and Glantaf Goats will be joined by Bournemouth 7s debutants The Black Sheep.
With the National Cup now full and spaces in the social competitions filling up quicker than ever before, the 2014 Bournemouth 7s Festival looks certain to be a cracker!
The Viper 10 Ladies Cup is also now open for entries and out women’s side will definitely be making an appearance.
20,000 people will descend on Bournemouth Sports Club for this festival – don’t miss out!
