FRN and Beavers 7s Merger Announcement

FIND RUGBY NOW (FRN) are pleased to announce that FRN and Beavers 7s will be merging this upcoming 2026 season to create UK’s first rugby sevens  “Super Club”.

The newly-named FRN Beavers will be entering into the 2026 LIT Super Sevens Series as well at the LIT Florida International 7s in Florida in November. The team will also be traveling to other various tournaments such as Bournemouth 7s and Amsterdam 7s for a total of 10 events in 2026.

The club will build for sporting success with a commitment to developing local rugby talent fielding five elite, open and social teams at every tournament on the LIT Super Sevens Series.

Overseeing the merger, Ellaine Gelman will become President of the club with Alex Plaistowe stepping into the role of Chairman. Jonny Burden will remain in his role of Director of Rugby. Together, they will be ensuring continuity as preparation for the new season begins with a training day on the 25th April to help set the foundations for a club that aims to compete for more trophies.

Ellaine Gelman, FRN Founder, said: “FRN has been competing against Beavers 7s for over 10 years. We have always admired their set up, their ethos and their coaching staff. We are thrilled to bring the best of both teams together and offer more opportunities for our players.”

Alex Plaistowe, Founder of Beavers 7s, said: “Super exciting times for the club to merge with an established rugby 7s brand in FRN. The club will continue its trajectory to bigger things in 2026 whilst keeping fun and inclusivity at the heart of what we do.”

About Find Rugby Now

FindRugbyNow was a website started in 2012 to connect rugby clubs, players and coaches to their rugby community. The sevens club was established that same years to promote the brand and to provide opportunities for men’s and women’s players to experience a professional rugby 7s set up.

Over the years the team has developed a strong international reputation competing all over the world in the USA, Europe, Asia and the Caribbean with wins at LA Premier 7s, Grenada 7s and LIT7s, amongst other tournaments.

The club has also grown and nurtured men’s and women’s rugby 7s players that went on to receive international honors and play professionally for Great Britain 7s / England 7s.

About Beavers 7s

The club was established in 2015 and was formally named the Broadwater Beavers, after the Broadwater area that Guildford RFC play their rugby. The team was formed as a way for players to stay connected in the off season heading to the Stockholm 10s every summer.

In 2017, the club were rebranded to be called the Akuma Beavers and they started entering into UK based tournaments. Since then the club has grown exponentially and they compete regularly in the LIT Super Sevens Series, with returns to big events such as Bournemouth and Summer Social on the cards.

Alongside the playing, they are a charity 7s team, one of the handful left on the circuit. They proudly support Shooting Star Children’s Hospices and over the course of 10 years have raised an impressive £64,000 to help give critical palliative care to young families.

Training Day on 25th April

FRN Beavers will be hosting an open training session/trial on 25th April at Guilford Rugby Club. Please email admin@lit7s.com if you are interested in joining us this summer!
